Mrs. T. M. Nandawathi Kumarihami - Sweets Producer ( Kurunegala )
She started her first project in making Sesame rolls (Sweets) production in small scale. Then she after folowed training used that knowledge to enhance sesame rolls production and also added producing sweet-peanut and “Murukku-bites” to her production category. Her husband transports those products to the market by motor cycle. Initially she got a small loan which amounted to Rs. 5,000/= from Agro Micro Finance. It was used for buying raw materials. With the increase of demand for her products she found that it was difficult to carry on her business alone. Because of that she had enrolled four employees to her business. Also she used a hired three-wheeler to transport her products to the market instead of using the motor-bike. With herexperience will Sesame rolls production she wanted to expande her business. For that she got a loan from Agro Micro Finance which amounted to Rs. 12,000/= to buy a machine to increase production efficiency and effectively. Nandawathi’s next target was to own a vehicle and add new products Toffees and Juggry for her business. Also she started selling packeted Dates and Plums. At the end of year 2004 she was able to purchase and own a vehicle by using the loan Rs.25,000/= borrowed from Agro Micro Finance. Now she is running her business with 13 employees and fullest support of her husband. And her current net profit is Rs.50,000/= per month. Her future plans are, to increase more employees in future and also carry large scale industry of Sweets products. “To small entrepreneurs like us, Agro Micro Finance helping for our business development. It is giving a better service for us and allows getting loans in short time without property bond and also to get loans using only two guarantors. It is a very good company and I hope to get more help from this company in the future too”. Mrs. Kumarihami is a client of Agro Micro Finance.

Nandawathi Kumarihami was the Best Entrepreneur award winner in year 2005 and made a tour to Thailand. She lives in a small village called Madagedara in Gokaralla. She’s an active member of Ambanpola Agromart Production Society.
